As a two-time founder and engineering leader, I've spent over 15 years turning ambitious ideas into production systems: from early-stage MVPs to platforms serving millions of daily users. I love the moment when ambitious ideas turn into production systems that actually work and people engage with them.

Currently at **Reddit**, I work on Profile features with millions of daily page views, build company-wide tooling, and mentor junior developers. I've built complete platforms from scratch, scaled B2B products to thousands of customers, and worked across industries from HR tech to healthcare to blockchain.

**Tech:** React, TypeScript, Web Components, Node.js, PHP, Laravel, Go, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, AWS.

## Projects

### Pling

A free tally counter that lives in the Mac menu bar. Pixel digits show your count, and every +1 flips a coin with a chime. You can count anything: sales, workouts, cold calls, cups of coffee.

Two global hotkeys mean you never touch the mouse: one adds a plain +1, the other opens Quick Entry where you type a short note along with the count. Notes land in the Daily Log grouped by day, achievements unlock as you hit milestones, and you can set a custom day boundary. Everything stays on your Mac: no account, no tracking.

I designed and built it end to end — the native SwiftUI menu-bar rendering, the pixel digits, the coin-flip sprite, the rolling digit animation, the timing of the chime. It's live on the Mac App Store, with a direct download too.

- Technologies: Swift, SwiftUI, macOS 14+

### CCSE 2026

The classic scratch-your-own-itch story. I was preparing for the Spanish nationality exam (CCSE) and couldn't find a practice app I liked, so I built one.

CCSE 2026 covers all 300 official questions across thematic areas like government, rights, geography, and daily life. It tracks progress, surfaces questions you get wrong more often, and simulates the real 25-question, 45-minute timed exam. Fully vibe coded — built fast, shipped fast. Live on both the App Store and Google Play.

### Bonboarding

SaaS platform helping product teams create beautiful, interactive onboarding experiences without needing developers. Scaled to 100+ B2B customers with 300K+ end users reached. The hard parts were handling large volumes of analytics data, minimizing initial client load so customer sites stayed fast, and making an integration that worked across thousands of different sites with their own CSS conflicts and JavaScript frameworks. See [Founder](https://johnnyfekete.com/founder) for the company story.

### Social AIde

iOS app that generates witty social media responses using AI. Built after WWDC 23 as my first native iOS app using Swift and SwiftUI — from SwiftUI to share extensions to API integration. No longer available in the App Store.

### TabNotes

Chrome extension that lets you attach notes to specific URLs. Built as part of a free course teaching real-world extension development. See [Educator](https://johnnyfekete.com/educator).

### CSS Christmas Calendar

24 Christmas-themed calendar items showcasing creative CSS techniques — no JavaScript allowed. Each item available on CodePen.
